WHAT

The Federal Reserve Act and its implementing Regulation D (12 CFR 204), as amended, imposes reserve requirements on certain deposit accounts of depository institutions. It specifies how depository institutions must classify accounts for reserve requirements purposes.

Depending on the type and use of the deposit account determines how the account must be handled for purposes of calculating the reserve requirements.

WHY

This two-hour program provides a review of the various account types and how they should be handled under Regulation D.  Attendees are able to:

  • Understand the types of deposit accounts covered under Regulation D;
  • Determine how to review a deposit account’s activity to ensure properly classified for reserve requirement purposes;
  • Acceptable penalties for customer transaction activity violations; and
  • Evaluate compliance with Regulation D through on-going monitoring.

TOPICS

The two-hour program covers:

  • Regulation D specific terms;
  • Understanding transaction accounts and acceptable activity;
  • Understanding non-transaction accounts and acceptable activity;
  • Initial and subsequent disclosure requirements;
